BrewHaHa! - To Benefit CharScholars Foundation
BrewHaHa 2011 benefiting ChairScholars Foundation, Inc. was held on Saturday, Oct. 22nd at the Rutland-Farley mansion in south St. Petersburg.
Three hundred and fifty ghoulishly attired guests gathered for a fabulous night of Halloween fun, complete with psychics, fire dancers, tassa drummers, delectable food from local restaurants, signature drinks, and rhythm and blues to wake the dead.
By all accounts, this year’s BrewHaHa was the most successful one yet, raising enough in funding to provide 11 new Florida Prepaid Tuition scholarships to low-income students with severe physical disabilities in the Tampa Bay area.
Scholarships will be awarded at the 16th Annual ChairScholars Festival on March 24, 2011.
The 15th Annual ChairScholars Festival

The 15th Annual ChairScholars Festival took place on Saturday, April 9th, 2011, under very sunny Florida skies.

Several generations of families spent the early part of the afternoon playing adaptive games and activities such as Wii and paintball, while others lined up to have their future forecasted by clairvoyants in the psychic village.

Over 750 people gathered to celebrate the accomplishments and abilities of past and new ChairScholars scholarship recipients.

Reportedly the best ChairScholars Festival yet can be credited to a great lineup of speakers;

Tampa Bay Buccaneer cornerback, Rondé Barber was the keynote speaker, Tampa Bay Bucaneer Head Coach, Raheem Morris, and past ChairScholar, Labrawn Saffold, shared the guest speakers’ spotlight. To top it all off, the scholarship awards were presented by former Tampa Mayor, Pam Iorio, who has been a constant supporter of people with disabilities in Tampa.

The awards ceremony, which is always the highlight of the day’s events, was marked by four equally poignant speeches meant to elevate the importance of the human spirit.
Rondé Barber encouraged students to find their “defining moment”.

Labrawn Saffold delivered an impassioned message for his younger peers stating “if the dream is big enough, the fact don’t matter”.

34 new scholarships were awarded to students with severe physical disabilities in Florida. An additional 33 will be awarded nationally, bringing the total scholarships awarded in 19 years to 769.
