ChairScholars National Program

Available to students in any state, the ChairScholars National program provides deserving high school seniors and college freshmen up to $20,000 for tuition at any college or university of their choice.



National ChairScholar recipients attend some of the nation’s most respected colleges and universities including the University of California, Louisiana State University, Boston College, Oregon State University, The University of Illinois, The University of Wisconsin, The University of Pennsylvania, Notre Dame University, The University of Tampa and the University of South Florida.

These gifted scholarship candidates will be future “leaders of America” They are extremely bright, highly motivated students who hold their physical challenge as just one more obstacle to be conquered on the road to a successful life. The support of the ChairScholars scholarship virtually guarantees their success after graduation. It allows them to focus on their education and on making a meaningful contribution to our society.

To date, ChairScholars has awarded 177 National Scholarships. Of those students, 69 have already successfully graduated, while 108 currently attend prestigious colleges and universities throughout the United States. The Foundation awarded twenty-six new National scholarships in 2008.

To qualify for a National Scholarship, ChairScholars applicants must:

  • Submit a recent photo
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Have profound (serious) physical challenges
  • Have at least a B high school scholastic average
  • Have performed some form of significant community service or made a significant social contribution
  • Be under the age of 21 and either a high school senior or college freshman
  • Complete a 300-500 word essay
  • Submit three letters of recommendation
  • Submit their parent’s IRS Form 1040 from the previous year
  • Submit their SAT and ACT Scores, High School Transcript and Proof of any honors or awards received
