The ChairScholars Foundation, Inc. awarded 52 full tuition college Florida Program scholarships, 3 vocational training scholarships and 26 National Program scholarships at the Twelfth Annual ChairScholars Festival, April 26, 2008. The Festival was held on the grounds of the Foundation’s headquarters, 16101 Carencia Lane, Odessa, FL 33556.
The theme for this year’s Festival was the “ChairScholars Olympics” in honor of the upcoming Paralympic games in Beijing. U.S. Paralympian Swim Team member Elizabeth Kolbe inspired and encouraged all attendees with her personal story of triumph over trauma. Other activities featured a performance by REVolutions Dance Company, adaptive Olympic-style games, arts and crafts and a delicious dinner. The highlight of the day, was the awards ceremony.
This Festival was sponsored in part by the Don & Erika Wallace Family Foundation, the Rooms to Go Children’s Fund, Publix Supermarket Charities, Raymond James Financial, First Citrus Bank, Northern Trust Bank, the Junior League of Tampa, CVS Caremark, and Outback Steakhouse.
